Laser Hair Removal: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

    1. How does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal uses concentrated light to target the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle. The energy heats and destroys the follicle to prevent future growth while keeping the surrounding skin safe.

    2. Is laser hair removal safe?

Yes. When performed with FDA-cleared devices like the Candela GentleMax Pro and by trained laser technicians, laser hair removal is both safe and effective for most skin types.

    3. Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most clients describe the sensation as a quick “snap” similar to a rubber band, followed by cooling from the device’s cryogen spray. Treatments are typically very tolerable, and the discomfort fades immediately.

    4. How many sessions will I need?

Most clients need 10-12 sessions for optimal, long-lasting results. Hair grows in cycles, and lasers can only treat follicles in the active growth phase, so multiple sessions are needed.

    5. How long does each session take?

Treatment time varies by area. Small areas (such as the upper lip or underarms) often take under 10 minutes, medium areas average around 15 minutes, and large areas (like full legs or the back) can take up to 30 minutes.

    6. What areas can be treated?

Laser hair removal can be performed on most areas of the body, including the face, underarms, arms, legs, bikini and Brazilian, chest, back, stomach, neck, shoulders, and hands or feet. Treatment plans are customized based on the area, hair type, and individual goals.

    7. Does laser hair removal work on all skin tones?

Yes — with the right technology. The GentleMax Pro uses both Alexandrite and Nd:YAG wavelengths, allowing safe and effective treatment for all skin tones.

    8. Will my hair grow back after treatment?

Most clients see long-term reduction. Some fine or dormant hairs may appear over time due to hormones or genetics, but overall growth is significantly reduced. Maintenance sessions may be recommended for best results.

    9. Can blond, gray, or red hair be treated?

Laser hair removal works best on dark, coarse hair because it targets pigment. Blonde, gray, red, or very fine hair has little to no pigment, making it harder for the laser to detect and treat.

    10. What should I do before my laser appointment?

    • Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your session.

    • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and spray tans for 2 weeks.

    • Do not wax, pluck, or thread for at least 4 weeks.
    • Stop using topicals on the treatment area 1-2 weeks before. Your clinic will give personalized guidance based on your skin and area.

    11. What should I avoid after my appointment?

    For 24–48 hours:

    • Avoid hot showers, saunas, or sweating.

    • Avoid makeup, deodorant, or fragranced products on the treated area.
    • Exercising for 24 hours
    • Avoid sun exposure and always use SPF.
Temporary redness or small bumps are normal and usually resolve quickly.

    12. Can I get treated if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Laser hair removal is not recommended during pregnancy due to limited research, but breastfeeding clients can be treated.

    13. When will I see results?

After your first session, treated hairs typically shed 14–21 days post-treatment. Begin gentle exfoliation 3 days after your session, 2–3 times per week, to support the removal of shedding hair. With each session, fewer hairs grow back, and they grow back more slowly. On average, you can expect a 10–20% reduction in hair per treatment. By the 10th–12th session, most patients achieve up to 85% hair reduction, with touch-ups recommended as needed for any remaining hairs. Your laser technician will guide you on timing and maintenance.

    14. Can I shave between or before my treatments?

Yes. Shaving is allowed and recommended before your laser hair removal session. For most visits, we suggest shaving 12–24 hours before your appointment. Avoid waxing, plucking, threading, or any other epilation methods for at least 4 weeks prior, as these remove the hair follicle and reduce the effectiveness of laser treatment.

    Important for your first treatments:

For your initial laser hair removal sessions, it is essential to arrive completely clean shaven. Early treatments target the highest density of active hair follicles, and shaving 12–24 hours beforehand allows the laser to safely and effectively treat the full area.

How your next visit is planned:

Your laser technician will assess your hair growth pattern: full area growth, sparse patches, or very sparse hair.

Based on this assessment, the technician will set your pre-treatment shaving goal: clean shaven, stubble, or no shaving required.

You will be given specific shaving timing instructions for your next visit (for example, 12–24 hours, 24–72 hours, or no shaving).

The anticipated treatment will then be planned as a full area, patch, or spot treatment.

As hair reduction progresses, shaving instructions may change. In later sessions, you may be advised to arrive with light stubble or no shaving for targeted treatments. Always follow your laser technician’s guidance to ensure optimal results and continued hair reduction.

    15. Is there downtime after a session?

No downtime. You can return to normal activities immediately, avoiding heat, sun, and heavy sweating for 24–48 hours.

    16. What’s the difference between laser hair removal and IPL?

Laser hair removal uses a single, focused wavelength that penetrates deeper and more precisely targets the follicle. IPL uses a broader light source that is less targeted, which can lead to less predictable results and often requires more sessions. Lasers are considered the gold standard.

    17. What if I have a tattoo near the treatment area?

Lasers cannot go over tattoos. The area must be avoided or covered to prevent damage or pigment changes.

    18. How much does laser hair removal cost?

Pricing varies by area, package, and location. Many clients opt for packages or promotions for the best value.

    19. Can men get laser hair removal?

Absolutely. Laser is popular for men’s backs, chests, stomachs, necklines, ears, and more.

    20. Are the results permanent?

Laser hair removal is considered long-term reduction, not guaranteed permanent removal. Most clients enjoy permanent reduction of 80–90% with occasional maintenance.

    21. What laser does Semper use, and why does it matter?

Semper uses the Candela GentleMax Pro, the gold standard in laser hair removal. It combines two powerful wavelengths to safely and effectively treat all skin tones and hair types, delivering faster results with more comfort.

    22. How does your laser compare to at-home devices and other medical-grade lasers?

Semper uses the Candela GentleMax Pro, widely considered the gold standard in laser hair removal. Unlike at-home devices or IPL, which use weaker, scattered light and provide temporary reduction, this medical-grade laser delivers precise, powerful energy that targets the hair follicle effectively for long-term results.

Compared to other medical-grade lasers, Candela stands out because it combines dual wavelengths to safely treat all skin tones, offers advanced cooling for greater comfort, and delivers consistent, reliable results in fewer sessions. When paired with our expertly trained technicians and customized treatment settings, it provides safer, faster, and more effective outcomes than alternatives.

    23. How does laser hair removal compare to shaving, waxing, epilating, or hair-removal creams?

Laser hair removal treats hair at the root, providing long-term reduction rather than temporary removal. Methods like shaving, waxing, epilating, and creams only address hair at the surface and must be repeated constantly—often leading to irritation, ingrown hairs, and ongoing cost.

With laser hair removal, regrowth becomes progressively finer and slower, often resulting in little to no visible hair over time. This means less frequent maintenance, fewer ingrown hairs, and reduced skin irritation, making it a long-term solution rather than a temporary fix.

    24. Why should I choose Semper?

Semper stands out because of our:

    • Lifetime Guarantee
    • Medical-grade Candela lasers
    • Expertly trained laser technicians
    • Inclusive care for all skin tones
    • Transparent pricing with no pressure
    • Try before you buy (4 complimentary sessions valued at $900)

    25. Why are you giving away 4 free sessions?

We offer 4 free sessions so you can experience our technology, results, and care with confidence. Laser hair removal requires multiple treatments to work effectively, and these sessions allow you to see real progress while we customize a plan that’s right for you—without pressure or commitment.

    26. What is the value of the 4 free sessions?

The value of the 4 free sessions is $900. We offer these risk free sessions as a way for you to experience real results with our medical-grade technology before committing to a full treatment plan.

    27. What is your cost compared to competitors?

Our pricing is competitive with other professional laser clinics, but the value is higher. We use medical-grade Candela lasers, employ highly trained technicians, and include long-term results and guarantees that many lower-cost providers do not. While some competitors may advertise cheaper upfront prices, they often require more sessions or ongoing treatments—making Semper the better value over time.

    28. Can I use the 4 complimentary sessions on a larger area?

Yes, you can use the value of the 4 complimentary sessions on a small area towards your purchase of a larger treatment area.

    29. What is hair shedding? What should I expect after treatment?

Hair shedding is a normal part of the laser hair removal process. After treatment, the targeted hairs will gradually loosen and fall out over the next 1–2 weeks—this is not regrowth. You may notice the hair looking like it’s growing, but it’s simply shedding from the follicle. Mild redness or warmth is normal and typically resolves within a few hours.

    30. Is laser environmentally friendly compared to alternatives?

Yes. Laser hair removal is a more environmentally friendly option than shaving or waxing over time. Traditional methods require constant upkeep and generate ongoing waste from disposable razors, wax strips, packaging, and chemical products.

Laser significantly reduces the need for these repeat products by delivering long-term hair reduction. With fewer treatments and less reliance on disposables, laser offers a lower environmental impact over time—making it a smarter, more sustainable choice.

    31. Why is Candela considered the best on the market?

Candela lasers are trusted worldwide by medical professionals because they:

    • Are FDA-cleared

    • Treat all skin tones safely

    • Have advanced cooling for comfort

    • Deliver consistent, proven results

    32. Will this work if I’ve tried laser removal elsewhere?

Yes. Many clients come to Semper after poor results elsewhere. Our advanced technology, proper settings, and experienced technicians often deliver results even when other clinics failed.

    33. Does laser hair removal actually reduce ingrown hairs?

Absolutely. Laser hair removal significantly reduces ingrowns by targeting the follicle at the root—making it ideal for clients who struggle with razor bumps or irritation.

    34. What is Semper’s Lifetime Guarantee?

Our Lifetime Guarantee means that once you complete your treatment plan, you’ll always have access to maintenance sessions—because we stand behind our results long-term.

    35. Are Semper technicians medically trained?

All Semper laser technicians are highly trained and certified, with ongoing education to ensure treatments are safe, effective, and customized for each client.

    36. Will I see faster results at Semper compared to other clinics?

Most clients notice results within the first few sessions. Our technology and treatment protocols are designed to maximize results without over-treating or under-treating.

    37. Why is cooling important during laser hair removal?

Advanced cooling protects the skin, increases comfort, and allows higher, more effective settings—leading to better results with less irritation.

    38. How does Semper customize treatments for each client?

We adjust laser settings based on skin tone, hair color, hair density, and treatment area, ensuring optimal results and safety for every session.

    39. Can laser hair removal cause burns or damage?

When performed correctly with the right technology, laser hair removal is very safe. Semper’s protocols and equipment are designed to minimize risk and protect skin health. We have one of the lowest adverse reaction rates compared to our competitors.

    40. Is laser hair removal worth the cost?

Yes. Over time, laser hair removal often costs less than years of waxing, shaving, and products, while saving time and eliminating irritation.

    41. Why is Semper’s pricing higher than some competitors?

Lower prices often mean outdated equipment or less experienced providers. Semper invests in top-tier technology, training, and long-term guarantees—so you get real results, not shortcuts.

    42. Why does Semper offer unlimited or lifetime options?

Because hair growth can be influenced by hormones, age, and lifestyle. Our plans ensure you’re covered long-term without paying per session forever.

    43. How do I know laser hair removal will work for me?

Before treatment begins, your technician will assess your skin and hair and review expectations during a personalized consultation.

    44. What makes Semper more trustworthy than med spas or chains?

Laser hair removal is Semper’s specialty. We focus exclusively on it—meaning better training, better results, and better outcomes.

    45. Why do clients stay with Semper long-term?

Clients stay because they see real results, feel cared for, and trust our lifetime approach to hair removal—not quick fixes.

    46. How often do you schedule your sessions?

Laser hair removal sessions are typically scheduled every 6–8 weeks, depending on the treatment area and your hair growth cycle. This timing allows us to target hair during its active growth phase for the best results.

Treatment intervals are intentionally spaced out and gradually extended as hair growth slows and becomes finer.

    Years 1–2 (Initial treatment phase):

    Treatments 1–8: every 6–8 weeks

    Treatments 9–10: every 8–10 weeks

    Treatments 11–12: every 10–12 weeks

During this phase, treatments are closer together to target the highest number of active hair follicles and achieve consistent reduction.

    Maintenance (Touch-up phase):

    Touch-ups 1–2: every 12–16 weeks

    Touch-ups 3–4: every 16–26 weeks

    Touch-ups 5 and beyond: every 26–52 weeks

As hair growth becomes minimal, appointments are spaced further apart to maintain results rather than actively reduce large amounts of hair.

This schedule allows treatments to stay aligned with your natural hair growth cycle and ensures the best long-term results with the least amount of maintenance.

    47. How long does it take to complete treatment?

Most clients complete their initial treatment plan within 12–18 months, depending on the area being treated, hair growth cycles, and individual response. Sessions are spaced out to target hair at the right stage for long-term results.

    48. What is the hair growth cycle and why does that impact my laser hair removal treatment?

Hair grows in cycles, and laser hair removal is most effective during the active growth phase (anagen), when the hair is still connected to the follicle. Because not all hairs are in this phase at the same time, multiple sessions spaced weeks apart are needed to treat each hair as it enters the growth phase—ensuring the best long-term results.

    49. How does laser hair removal work? (technical answer)

The Candela GentleMax Pro uses selective photothermolysis, a scientific process in which specific wavelengths of laser energy are absorbed by melanin in the hair shaft. This energy is converted into heat, which is conducted down to the hair follicle, selectively damaging the follicular stem cells responsible for hair growth while preserving the surrounding skin.

The GentleMax Pro combines two clinically proven wavelengths—755 nm Alexandrite and 1064 nm Nd:YAG—allowing treatments to be precisely matched to different skin tones and hair types. An integrated dynamic cooling device (DCD) delivers bursts of cryogen before each pulse to protect the epidermis, enhance comfort, and allow for effective energy delivery with a strong safety profile.

This targeted, controlled approach results in progressive, long-term hair reduction over a series of treatments.

    50. If I’ve waxed, epilated, or plucked recently, can I still schedule my laser hair removal treatment?

You’ll need to wait before starting laser hair removal. Waxing removes the hair follicle, which the laser needs to effectively target. We recommend waiting at least 4 weeks after waxing (or plucking or epilating) before your first treatment and shaving the area prior to your appointment.

    51. Why can’t I get laser hair removal if I’ve had a spray tan recently?

Spray tans darken the surface of the skin, which can interfere with how the laser targets hair pigment. Because the laser is attracted to pigment, a spray tan increases the risk of skin irritation or burns and can make treatment less effective. For safety and best results, spray tans should be fully faded before laser hair removal. We recommend waiting 2-3 weeks to ensure the skin is free of the topical residue from the spray tan.

    52. Why can’t I get laser hair removal if I’ve had sun exposure recently or I'm tan?

Laser hair removal targets pigment in the hair follicle. When skin is recently tanned—whether from the sun or tanning beds—it contains more surface pigment, which increases the risk of irritation, burns, or discoloration and can reduce treatment effectiveness. For your safety and best results, skin should be back to its natural tone before treatment.

    53. What will happen if I get sun exposure after laser hair removal treatment?

Sun exposure after treatment can irritate the skin and increase the risk of a burn, pigmentation changes, or delayed healing. Treated skin is more sensitive, so we recommend avoiding direct sun exposure and using broad-spectrum SPF for at least 1–2 weeks after your session to protect your skin and maintain optimal results.

    54. Are there any medications that I should avoid when getting treatment?

Yes. Some medications can increase skin sensitivity or photosensitivity, which may raise the risk of irritation during laser treatment. Common examples include certain antibiotics, acne medications (such as isotretinoin), and topical retinoids. To avoid unnecessary trips or having your treatment postponed, please contact the store before your appointment to have your medications reviewed and verified. This ensures your session can proceed safely and smoothly.

    55. Can I get laser hair removal if I’ve had cancer?

It depends on your medical history and current treatment status.

History of melanoma: Laser hair removal is not recommended outside of the care of a dermatologist. Patients should only pursue treatment under the care of a dermatologist.

Active cancer or ongoing treatment: You must obtain medical clearance before treatment, as some therapies can increase photosensitivity, affect the immune system, or cause skin complications. Semper can provide a medical clearance form for your healthcare provider to complete.

Skin cancer in remission: Do not treat the area where the cancer was located.

Other cancers in remission: Laser hair removal is generally considered safe.

Your safety is our priority, and we’ll review your history and coordinate with your provider.

    56. Do certain medical conditions prevent laser hair removal treatment?

Some medical conditions may require caution or postponement of laser hair removal. Conditions that affect skin healing, increase photosensitivity, or involve active infections, open wounds, or certain hormonal or autoimmune disorders may impact treatment eligibility. During your consultation, we review your medical history to ensure laser hair removal is safe and appropriate for you, and may recommend medical clearance if needed.

    57. Why do I need to shave before my laser hair removal treatment?

Shaving removes hair at the surface while keeping the follicle intact, allowing the laser to safely and effectively target the hair root. If hair is left above the skin, the laser energy can be absorbed by the surface hair instead of the follicle, increasing discomfort and reducing results. Shaving before treatment helps ensure a more comfortable session and better outcomes.

    58. Can I get laser hair removal if I have PCOS?

Yes. Laser hair removal can be very effective for people with PCOS by significantly reducing unwanted hair growth and improving skin irritation and ingrowns. Because hormonal conditions like PCOS can stimulate new hair growth over time, more sessions or ongoing maintenance may be needed—but laser remains one of the best long-term management options when combined with a customized treatment plan.

    59. Can I use numbing cream on the areas I’m treating?

For topical anesthetics, we recommend Numb Master from Amazon (5% Lidocaine) followed by Aspercreme from CVS or Walgreens (4% Lidocaine). You will need to apply the numbing cream 30 minutes prior to your treatment to maximize effectiveness.

    60. Are there any post laser reactions I should be aware of?

Yes, mild reactions are normal and temporary. You may experience redness, warmth, or slight swelling around the hair follicles, similar to a mild sunburn. These effects usually resolve within a few hours to a day. Less commonly, temporary skin sensitivity or dryness may occur. Your technician will review aftercare instructions to support proper healing and optimal results.

    61. Why might I see new hair growth during laser hair removal?

Hair grows in cycles, and laser hair removal only targets hair in the active growth phase. Hairs that were dormant during your last treatment can become visible between sessions, which may look like new growth. This is normal and expected, and it’s why multiple treatments spaced over time are necessary for long-term results.

    62. What if I miss a treatment? When should I schedule my next session?

If you miss a treatment, don’t worry—simply schedule your next session as soon as possible. Your treatment plan can resume where you left off, though staying close to your recommended schedule helps achieve the best results by targeting hair during the correct growth phase.

    63. Why do some treatment areas respond faster than others?

Hair density, thickness, hormones, and growth cycles vary by area, which affects how quickly results appear.

    64. Can hair come back after I finish treatment?

Some follicles can reactivate over time due to hormones or aging, which is why occasional maintenance sessions may be recommended.

    65. Does laser work on coarse vs. fine hair differently?

Laser hair removal works best on dark-colored hairs, regardless of thickness. Coarse, dark hair typically responds fastest, but dark fine hair can also be effectively treated, though it may require slightly more sessions.

    66. Can lasers treat facial hair safely?

Yes. Facial laser is safe and effective when performed correctly and customized for sensitive skin.

    67. What if I have ingrown hairs or folliculitis?

Laser is one of the best treatments for reducing ingrown hairs and folliculitis by targeting the follicle at the source.

    68. Can lasers help with hyperpigmentation caused by shaving or waxing?

Yes. Lasers help reduce hyperpigmentation over time because they minimize the need for shaving, waxing, or other hair removal methods that can irritate the skin and trigger pigmentation. By decreasing hair growth and limiting these irritations, the skin gradually becomes more even-toned.

    69. Which areas are the most sensitive to treat?

Areas like the upper lip, bikini, and Brazilian can be more sensitive, but cooling technology helps maintain comfort.

    70. Can I take pain relievers before treatment?

It is generally recommended to avoid pain relievers unless approved by your provider, as some can increase bruising or sensitivity. If necessary, Tylenol can be taken prior to your appointment. Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Diclofenac all require a signed waiver to receive treatment. Always disclose any medications to your provider as treatment may need to be delayed or adjusted to ensure safety.

    71. Can I get laser hair removal during the summer?

Yes, as long as sun exposure is limited and skin is not tanned.

    72. Can I switch areas during my treatment plan?

No, you cannot change treatment areas once you’ve completed a session on that area.

    73. What happens if I move or switch locations?

You can continue treatment at another Semper location, subject to plan terms.

    74. Is laser hair removal transferable to another person?

Treatment plans are non-transferable and customized for each individual.

    75. Can laser hair removal affect fertility?

No. Laser hair removal only targets hair follicles and does not affect reproductive organs.

    76. Is laser safe around the bikini or Brazilian area?

Yes. These are commonly treated areas and are safe when performed correctly.

    77. Can laser hair removal cause scarring or pigmentation changes?

When performed properly and with correct aftercare, risks are minimal.

    78. What if I have sensitive skin, rosacea, or eczema?

We assess skin conditions carefully and may adjust or postpone treatment if needed.

    79. Can laser be done over stretch marks?

Yes, but settings are adjusted to protect the skin.

    80. What happens if I’m not happy with my results?

We will work with you to adjust your plan and ensure you’re supported throughout your journey.

    81. Why do so many clients choose unlimited or lifetime plans?

They offer long-term value, flexibility, and peace of mind as hair growth changes over time. The body will create new hair follicles over time, touch ups are required and with our unlimited touch ups, there will be no additional cost to you.

    82. How early should I arrive for my appointment?

Arrive 10 minutes early to allow time for check-in.

    83. What happens if I’m late to my appointment?

Late arrivals may result in a shortened or rescheduled session. Late arrivals are subject to a late fee of $15

    84. Do I need a consultation before treatment?

Yes. A consultation ensures treatment is safe and customized for you.

    85. Is your laser FDA approved?

Yes. The Candela GentleMax Pro is FDA-cleared for laser hair removal. It’s a medical-grade device that meets strict safety and effectiveness standards and is widely used by medical professionals worldwide.

    86. Can laser hair removal cause cancer?

No. Laser hair removal does not cause cancer. The laser uses non-ionizing light energy that targets hair follicles and does not damage DNA or penetrate deep enough to affect internal organs. It has been safely used in medical and cosmetic treatments for decades.

    87. How does the Candela GentleMax Pro compare to a Diode laser?

The Candela GentleMax Pro outperforms most diode lasers because it uses two wavelengths (755 nm + 1064 nm) instead of one. This allows safe, effective treatment for all skin tones and a wider range of hair types, with better precision and comfort. Its advanced cooling enables stronger, more effective settings, often leading to faster results in fewer sessions. Diode lasers can be effective, but are typically best for light to medium skin tones and may require more treatments to achieve similar results. This laser is not recommended to safely and effectively treat darker skin tones.

    88. How can taking hormones impact my laser hair removal journey?

Hormones play a significant role in hair growth, so changes in hormone levels—such as starting, stopping, or adjusting birth control, fertility treatments, testosterone, or other hormone therapies—can stimulate new hair growth. Laser hair removal will still effectively reduce existing hair, but hormonal fluctuations may require additional sessions or ongoing maintenance to maintain results.

We tailor treatment plans to your individual needs and adjust as needed over time, which is why long-term or unlimited options can be especially beneficial for clients with hormone-related hair growth.

    89. Does laser hair removal help strawberry legs?

Yes. Laser hair removal can significantly improve the appearance of strawberry legs by reducing hair growth and the clogged or inflamed follicles that cause dark dots and redness. By targeting the hair at the root, laser helps minimize ingrown hairs, irritation, and follicle visibility—resulting in smoother, more even-looking skin over time.

    90. What are the benefits of laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal offers long-term hair reduction with smoother, healthier skin and far less maintenance than traditional methods. Key benefits include:

    • Long-term results: Hair grows back finer, lighter, and slower over time

    • Reduced ingrown hairs: Targets the follicle at the root, minimizing bumps and irritation

    • Smoother skin: Improves texture and tone caused by shaving or waxing

    • Time-saving: Eliminates daily or weekly hair removal routines

    • Cost-effective over time: Reduces ongoing spending on razors, waxing, and products

    • Precision: Targets unwanted hair without damaging surrounding skin

    • Comfort: Advanced cooling makes treatments quick and tolerable

    • Safe for all skin tones: With modern medical-grade lasers and proper customization

    • Eco-friendly: Reduces reliance on disposable hair-removal products

Overall, laser hair removal is a convenient, effective, and long-term solution for unwanted hair with added skin benefits.

    91. How much time do you save long term with laser hair removal compared to other methods?

Laser hair removal can save hundreds of hours over a lifetime. Shaving often requires multiple sessions per week and waxing every 4–6 weeks, adding up to 100+ hours per year spent on hair removal. With laser, once treatments are complete, maintenance is minimal—saving significant time while delivering longer-lasting results.

    92. How much money do you save long term with laser hair removal compared to other methods?

Over time, laser hair removal can save thousands of dollars. Ongoing costs for shaving supplies, waxing appointments, and hair-removal products add up year after year. Laser

    93. Can I receive treatment at multiple locations?

Yes. You can receive laser hair removal treatments at any of our locations, making it easy to stay on schedule whether you’re traveling, relocating, or simply prefer a different clinic.

    94. Why can’t I schedule my treatment sooner?

Laser hair removal is most effective when treatments are spaced according to your hair growth cycle. Scheduling sessions too close together means the hair may not be in the active growth phase, reducing effectiveness and results. Following the recommended timing ensures each session delivers the maximum benefit and long-term reduction. A minimum of 6 weeks is required for best results.

    95. How much hair reduction should I see after each treatment?

Most clients see about a 10% reduction in hair growth after each session. Results build progressively with each treatment as more hairs are targeted during their active growth phase, leading to significant long-term reduction over time.

    96. What could cause my laser hair removal treatment to be less effective?

Several factors can impact how well laser hair removal works, including:

    • Hair color and thickness: Very light, gray, or red hair has less pigment for the laser to target.
    • Hormonal changes: Conditions like PCOS or changes in hormones can stimulate new hair growth.
    • Inconsistent scheduling: Missing or spacing sessions too far apart can reduce effectiveness.
    • Sun exposure or tanning: Tanned skin can limit safe energy settings and results.
    • Waxing or plucking: Removing the follicle prevents the laser from targeting the hair root.
    • Medications or medical conditions: Some can affect hair growth or skin sensitivity.

We will customize your plan and provide guidance to help maximize results.

    97. What is Semper’s adverse reaction rate?

Semper’s treatments have a very low adverse reaction rate, averaging about 0.03%. This reflects our commitment to safe, effective, and carefully monitored procedures.

    98. Do you offer in-house or third party financing?

Yes. We offer flexible in-house and third-party financing options to make laser hair removal more affordable. Our team can review available plans with you and help you choose an option that fits your budget.

    99. Can I purchase individual sessions?

Yes, individual sessions are available. However, when purchasing packages you can get more savings through higher discounts.

    100. Can I purchase touch ups only?

Yes. You can purchase touch-up treatments, either as individual sessions or as part of a package, depending on your needs and goals.

    101. What if my credit score is bad and I can’t get third party financing?

No problem. If you’re not approved for third-party financing, we offer in-house financing options that allow you to space out your payments, making treatment more accessible. Our team can walk you through the available options and help find a plan that works for you.

    102. Will a hard credit check be pulled when I apply for third-party financing?

Applying through third party financing starts with a soft credit check, which does not impact your credit score. If you choose to move forward with a specific lender and accept financing terms, that lender may then perform a hard credit inquiry.

    103. If I have herpes simplex virus I or II, can I receive treatment?

Yes. You can receive laser hair removal if you have HSV-1 or HSV-2, as long as there is no active outbreak in the area being treated. Treatment cannot be performed on skin with open sores or active lesions. If you have a history of outbreaks, let your provider know—preventative antiviral medication should be taken at least 24 hours before your session to reduce the risk of a flare-up.

    104. Is laser hair removal safe for darker skin types?
Yes. We use the GentleMax Pro laser, which is safe for darker skin tones. It has a specific setting designed for deeper skin pigmentation, allowing treatments to be performed safely and effectively when customized by a trained provider. Every client’s skin is assessed before treatment to ensure the correct settings are used.

    105. Are the 4 free sessions really free?

Yes, the four sessions are completely free of charge. No fees or commitment are required.

    106. Can men get their brazilian or perianal treated?

Yes. Men can absolutely receive Brazilian and perianal laser hair removal treatments. These areas are safe to treat when performed by trained professionals, and treatments are customized for comfort, privacy, and individual hair and skin type.

    107. Can you do your perianal for 4 free sessions?

For the four complimentary sessions you cannot treat the perianal area. However, with purchase, the perianal area can be treated.

    108. Can you get laser hair removal with hyperhidrosis?

Yes. Laser hair removal is safe for people with hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating does not prevent treatment or affect long-term results. The skin just needs to be clean and dry during the session. Laser hair removal does not treat hyperhidrosis itself, but many clients still choose it to reduce shaving irritation and improve comfort.

    109. What is the price range for a small, medium, and large area?

At Semper Laser we have multiple packages for your individual needs. We offer 8 sessions, 12 sessions and single sessions that can be combined into a custom package. We also offer unlimited touch ups with our 12 sessions packages. The price can range from $30 per month for small areas, $40 per month for medium areas and $60 per month for large areas. For more specific pricing , please contact the nearest location so we can quote based off your individual needs.

    111. If I’m not satisfied with my results, what can I do?

Semper Laser will conduct a hair audit every 4th, 7th and 12th session to ensure your results are in alignment with the expected results. If you are not satisfied with your results, please reach out to the sales director for a full audit of treatments. Your results are our main focus

    112. Can I get laser hair removal with Lupus?

No. Semper does not perform laser hair removal on clients with Lupus, even with medical clearance. Lupus can significantly increase photosensitivity and skin reaction risk, and treatment should only be performed under the direct, on-site supervision of a dermatologist. For safety reasons, Semper prioritizes conservative treatment guidelines and is unable to treat Lupus patients.

    113. Can I get laser hair removal with Melanoma?

Even with MD clearance, Semper does not treat melanoma patients. For safety reasons, Semper prioritizes conservative treatment guidelines and is unable to treat patients with Melanoma.

    114. Can I get laser hair removal with Vitiligo?

No. Semper does not perform laser hair removal on clients with vitiligo. Due to the risk of pigment changes and uneven skin response, treatment is not recommended and is outside of our safety guidelines.

    115. Can I get laser hair removal with AIDS?

No. Semper does not perform laser hair removal on clients with AIDS, even with medical clearance. AIDS is associated with a severely compromised immune system, which increases the risk of complications. For safety reasons, Semper prioritizes conservative treatment guidelines and does not provide treatment in these cases.

    116. Can I get laser hair removal if I have a history of keloid scarring?

Laser hair removal is generally not recommended for clients with a history of severe keloid scarring, because keloids involve an abnormal healing response and there is a higher risk of raised scar formation.

Mild keloid history: You may proceed with treatment if a signed keloid waiver is completed. The laser will not be used over existing keloids.

Your safety is our priority, and we follow strict protocols to minimize risk while providing effective care.

    117. Can I get laser hair removal if I am using topical steroids?

It depends. Topical steroid use must be evaluated before laser hair removal. Some steroids can thin or sensitize the skin, increasing the risk of irritation or delayed healing. Always disclose topical steroid use to your provider—treatment may need to be postponed or adjusted to ensure safety.

    118. Do I need to stop taking supplements to get laser hair removal?

For laser hair removal, the main concern with supplements is anything that increases bleeding, bruising, or photosensitivity. You generally do not need to stop basic vitamins and minerals like iron, multivitamins, potassium, collagen, or protein shakes.

Supplements to consider stopping about 5 days before your appointment:

    Blood thinners / anti-coagulants

    High-dose fish oil / omega-3

    High-dose vitamin E

    Garlic, ginkgo biloba, ginseng

Herbal or natural supplements that may affect healing

    St. John’s Wort

    Dong quai

    Turmeric / curcumin (high doses)

Any other herbal blends labeled as “circulation boosters” or “blood thinners”

Note: Discontinuing these supplements 5 days before laser hair removal is recommended to reduce the risk of bruising, but it is not an absolute contraindication. The priority is advising the patient of potential increased bruising while taking these supplements.

    Safe to continue:

Iron, standard multivitamins, potassium, protein shakes, collagen, vitamin C, and vitamin D at normal doses.

    119. Can I get laser hair removal if I am taking accutane?

No. Laser hair removal is not performed while you are taking Accutane (isotretinoin). Accutane increases skin sensitivity and the risk of adverse reactions. Treatment can only be considered after you have completed the medication and waited the required clearance period, as determined during your consultation.

    120. Why do I need to refrain from using deodorant, lotion, or makeup on the areas being treated?

You need to avoid deodorant, lotion, and makeup on treated areas because these products can interfere with the laser’s effectiveness and increase the risk of skin irritation or burns. Clean, product-free skin allows the laser energy to target the hair follicle safely and accurately.

    121. Why did my friend or family member get quoted a different price than I did?

Pricing can vary based on treatment areas, package size, current promotions, and timing of purchase. Promotions change frequently, so two people may receive different quotes depending on when they book and what offers are available at that time.

    122. Is it safe to take antibiotics and get laser hair removal?

It depends. Some antibiotics may increase photosensitivity. Always disclose any antibiotics you’re taking before treatment. If the medication is photosensitizing, treatment may need to be postponed until it’s safe to proceed.

    123. Do you have any ongoing promotions?

Yes. We regularly offer a variety of promotions, and availability can change. Our team will help you find the best current offer to ensure you receive the best possible price.

    124. Can I use this promotion or discount on a previous purchase?

No. Current promotions or discounts cannot be applied to previous purchases. All offers are valid only at the time of purchase and cannot be retroactively applied.

    125. What are your most popular areas to treat?

The most commonly treated areas among women include the bikini area, underarms, arms, upper lip, and legs. Whereas facial hair, ears, shoulders, underarms, back, and chest, are the most commonly treated areas among men.

    126. What’s the catch?
Great question! There’s no catch. The 4 free sessions are part of our new client offer so you can try laser hair removal with us risk free on a small area. The only requirement is that it’s limited to one small area and for first time clients only. After your free sessions, if you love your results, we can go over package options!

    127. Do you price match?

Yes. We offer price matching on comparable packages when the treatment areas, package size, and technology is equivalent to Semper Laser standards. Proof of the offer may be required, and price matching is subject to verification.

    128. Can I refer a friend or family member for 4 free sessions?

Absolutely. You can refer an unlimited number of friends or family members for our 4 complimentary sessions (new clients only). All we’ll need is their full name and phone number to get them started.

    129.  Can I shave right after laser hair removal?

You can shave as soon as 24 hours after your laser hair removal treatment, as long as the skin is calm and free of irritation. Avoid waxing, plucking, or threading between sessions, as these remove the hair follicle needed for treatment.

    130. Do the 4 free sessions expire?

Yes, these sessions do expire. All sessions must be used within 12 months to remain valid. If appointments are not kept consistently, the clinic reserves the right to void any remaining voucher sessions.
